All of my life, I never believed in monsters or ghosts. I had always laughed at scary things because no such things exist, right? After an encounter on one chilly Halloween night, that all changed. That night made me a believer.
On Halloween night, I couldn’t decide what I wanted to do, so I decided to do a bit of everything. This was exactly the reason I loved Halloween. You had so many options; trick-or-treating, seeing haunted houses, playing pranks on people and scaring them. Being older, I passed up on the trick-or-treating, although I did go to haunted houses and scare people. I guess the saying what goes around comes around is true, because later I got the scare of my life.
One part of my fun filled night was daring to visit the empty manor down the street. Everyone always said that the large vacant house was haunted, and I wanted to prove them wrong. For that reason, I approached the dark house with the boarded windows. Although I had always been dexterous, I had to clamber up the steep concrete steps that led to the house. Because the manor was a long way from the main road and hidden by a mile-long grove of trees, the noise could not be heard unless you were at the house itself. Since I was, I heard the indistinct rise of voices emitting from the house. Not wanting to be seen, I crept silently around the house. The back door was slightly ajar, so I entered. The noise I had faintly heard outside suddenly became louder. I guessed that the voices were coming from the front part of the house. Instead of being frightened, I was curious. I knew everyone was terrified of this place, so I wondered why there were so many voices. The question compelled me to press on through the rooms.
I soon discovered that the noise came from the kitchen. I waited until I was safely hidden in the next room, which happened to be the living room, to see who was in there. I spotted a large, blue and white ornamental vase that was larger than me, so I chose that as my cover. I peeked around the vase and could not believe what I saw.
Check back soon for part 2!!!
